Edge: Plain.

Obverse: Beaded border round the rim. Bust of General Buller in uniform with cap, slightly left. Legend above: “RELIEF OF LADYSMITH FEB 28TH 1900” and below: “GENERAL BULLER”.

Reverse: Beaded border round the rim. On an ornate rectangular plaque across: "SOUTH AFRICA 1900. Behind, laurel wreath tied at the bottom and crossed bayoneted rifles with Queen's crown at the top. Stamped below plaque with the makers mark: "J.F" and below that the Birmingham sterling silver hallmarks for 1899-1900 (z).
