Obverse: Arms of the cross ornamented. In the middle, withing a circular frame: "CORP. / A.H. TAYLOR"

Reverse: Engraved: "With Blandford's thanks (in an arc) / SOUTH AFRICA /1901". Indistinct hallmarks and maker's name below.

Notes: Blandford Forum (or simply Blandford) is a market town in Dorset, England, about 21 kilometres northwest of Poole.

Corporal A.H. Taylor served as a volunteer with the 2nd Dorsetshire Regiment. The QSA roll records that 4097 Corporal AA (sic) Taylor was entitled to clasps: Orange Free State, Transvaal, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith and Laing's Nek. The roll also records that he was invalided home. He was mention in dispatched by Lord Roberts: London Gazette, 10 September 1901, Page 5944. Taylor possibly re-attested and the QSA sup roll records that Private 3919 HH (sic) Taylor of the 2nd Dorset Regiment was entitled to the addition of the South Africa 1901 clasp.

The Blandford Forum Town Council records the names of 26 Boer War soldiers who were honoured with the Freedom of the Town. Corp A.H. Taylor was so honoured on 19 May 1903.
