Notes:
|
Gold Fields of South Africa was formed in 1887 by Cecil Rhodes and Charles Rudd and reorganized as Consolidated Gold Fields of South Africa in 1892. It is believed that the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy was established, modeled after its counterpart in Britain, to further Rhodes ambition to develop gold mining in Rhodesia.
